Amateur Morgan wins his first PBA Senior title in Northern California Classic

Nick Morgan, an amateur bowler from Sacramento, Calif., won his first Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Senior Tour title at Harvest Park Bowl Wednesday when he defeated Dale Traber, Cedarburg, Wis., 247-227, in the championship match of the PBA Senior Northern California Classic.

Hugh Miller had his sights set on the championship from the opening Round of competition, "In qualifying I wanted to finish strong so I stepped up my focus to finish in the top eight." The 51 year old southpaw did so in a big way by rolling 12 consecutive strikes in the last game of qualifying to take the second seed position and securing a double bye into the Round of 16.

The PBA has announced the 2008-09 Denny's PBA Tour schedule, the 50th season in the organization's history.

The 2008-09 Denny's PBA Tour includes 20 stops between October and April, with return visits to 14 venues from the 2007-08 season and venue changes for two of the four Major events.

In a battle of Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Hall of Famers, first-year Senior Tour player Wayne Webb defeated Johnny Petraglia to win the 2008 PBA Senior U.S. Open presented by Suncoast Friday at the Suncoast Bowling Center.

Webb, a 20-time Denny's PBA Tour titlist bowling in only his second Senior Tour event, defeated Petraglia 204-172 in the championship to win the $20,000 first prize.

Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Hall of Famer Johnny Petraglia averaged 246.1 to take the first round qualifying lead Monday in the PBA Senior U.S. Open presented by Suncoast at the Suncoast Bowling Center.

Petraglia, a six-time Senior Tour and 14-time Denny's PBA Tour winner, had a 1,477 six-game total on games of 203, 279, 269, 224, 222 and 280 to top a 321-player field made up of PBA Senior Tour professionals as well as amateurs.

Sam Zurich, the 2007 Professional Bowlers Association Senior Tour Rookie of the Year, and PBA Hall of Famer Johnny Petraglia retained their positions as tournament leaders after final round qualifying Wednesday in the United States Bowling Congress Senior Masters at Golden Pin Lanes.

Zurich (left), of Grant, Fla., led the 260-player field with a 3,304 15-game total, just nine pins ahead of Petraglia in second with 3,295.
