20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships declared open

The 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships got underway this morning at the state-of-the-art Hong Kong Bowling City at EMax in Hong Kong, China.

The Opening Ceremony was conducted in a style all the players and coaches and most of the officials prefer: short and sweet, but really beautiful thanks to the Hong Kong Lion Dancers.

The 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships which will be held from July 4 to 11, 2008 at Hong Kong Bowling City, EMax, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong, China. It marks the third time that Hong Kong is hosting the prestigious event after 1988 and 2002.

The 20th Asian Bowling Federation General Assembly set new standards for bowling congresses in the modern history of the sport. ABF President Sheikh Talal M. Al Sabah from Kuwait opened the meeting Thursday morning at 10 a.m. at the Royal Pacific Hotel in Kowloon, Hong Kong and closed the event after just one hour and 15 minutes.

The 20th Asian Tenpin Bowling Championships will be held from July 4-12, 2008 at Hong Kong Bowling City, Emax, Kowloon Bay, Hong Kong, China. The event is organized by the Hong Kong Tenpin Bowling Congress (HKTBC).

Most of the teams from China, Chinese Taipei, DPR Korea, Egypt, Guam, India, Iran, Japan, Korea, Kuwait, Macau, Malaysia, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Saipan, Singapore, Thailand and have been arrived today at Hong Kong International Airport, one of the busiest airports in the world.

Philippine Open Masters champion Benshir Layoso and Apple Posadas posted bog scores to win the fifth stop of the 2008 Asian Bowling Federation Tour at SM Mall of Asia Bowling Center in Pasay City, Philippines. Layoso, who sealed the victory in the Open Saturday with back-to-back 260s, rolled games of 238, 278 and 277 in his first three rounds and topped compatriot Chester King in the title match, 239-234. Posadas saved her best for the last game, when she flew past fellow countrywoman Lovella Catalan, 258-199, to win the women's title.
