USA, Finland, Germany, Colombia to bowl for the coveted Team title at Men's World Championships

2010MWCTeamUSA.jpg2010MWCTrioCOL.jpgPatrick Allen, Chris Barnes, Rhino Page, Wes MalottBill O'Neill and Tommy Jones (pictured left), United States, led the field of 54 countries in the 5-player Team event preliminaries with 6376 pinfall total (212,53 ave,) to earn the No. 1 seed for tonight's playoffs.

The PBA professionals will take on No. 4 seeded Colombia in the semifinals. David Romero, Fabio Garcia, Jaime Monroy, Manuel Otalora and Andres Gomez and Juan Rodriguez (right, l-r) led Squad 1 with 6119 (203,97) to grab the No. 4 seed.

PBA star Mika Koivuniemi, Joonas Jähi, Petteri Salonen, Pasi Uotila and Osku Palermaa finished the six-game preliminaries, 3 games on medium and three games on long oil conditioning program, in second with 1340 (223,33).

Germany's Michael Holzapfel, Pascal Winternheimer, Bodo Konieczny, Marco Baade, Achim Grabowski and Jens Nickel fired 1110 in the final game including a 280 by Nickel to jump into third place with 6226 (207,53).

The winners of the semifinals will advance to the title match while the losers will share the bronze medals.

2010MWCAEChrisBarnesBillONeillJangDongChul.jpgBill O'Neill took gold in All Events (combined results of Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team) with 5343 pinfall total and an average of 222,63 for 24 games. Chris Barnes, both United States, was second with 5258 (219,08).

Patrick Allen, Wes Maloot, both USA, and Ernesto Franco, Mexico, battled it out for the bronze medal until the very last frame but when the dust had settled  Jang Dong-Chul, Korea, remained in third place to earn the bronze medal with 5091 (212,13).

The top 16 in All Events, 4 U.S. Americans, three pleasers each from Korea and Finland, two from Chinese Taipei, and one each from China, Mexico, Hong Kong and Canada advanced to the Masters finals which will conclude the 2010 Men's World Championships on Saturday, Aug 21.

The teams from 54 countries were split into two squads who bowled two 3-game blocks, one each on the 38-foot WTBA Atlanta (Thursday) and 45-foot WTBA Mexico City (Friday) lane conditioning pattern.

The top 4 five-player teams with the highest 6-game total advanced to the playoffs. Bowlingdigital's Live Streaming broadcast starts at 7.30 p.m. CET (1.30 p.m. EST).

The 2010 WTBA World Men's Championships will run through Aug. 21st. Players will compete for medals in six events - Singles, Doubles, Trios, five-player Team, All Events and Masters match play.

Bowlingdigital.com will provide live streaming of the semifinals, finals and award ceremonies of each event.
