Siti Shazwani captures Open Masters title in 13th PBAP Bevida-Storm International Classic

2010BevidaStormSitiShazwani.jpgSiti Shazwani (pictured left), Malaysia, captured the Open Masters title worth 150.000 Philippine Pesos (approx. $3,230) in the 13th PBAP Bevida-Storm International Classic Friday at Pearl Bowling Center in Manila, Philippines.

The title match of the six-player shootout finals saw top-seeded Shazwani and qualifying leader, Sin Li Jane, seeded third, in an all-Malaysian women affair with the top seed sealing victory with a fine 274-230 performance.

Shazwani started the championship match with a spare, then reeled off 8 consecutive strikes to put the match away well before the final frame.

2010BevidaStormTop6.jpgIn the opening match, another Malaysian female bowler, Jacqueline Sijore, seeded sixth, eliminated No. 4Cha Ji-Hyun, Korea, and No. 5 Remy Ong, Singapore, 245-205-207.

Li Jane (243) topped Sijore (218) and No. 2 Lau Kwun Ho (170), Hong Kong, in the semifinal for the right to bowl Shazwani for the title. The top seed must be defeated twice to win the title. Shazwani made quick work of her opponent to pocket the 150,000 PHP top prize.

Paeng Nepomuceno was the top local bowler in 7th place missing the cut for the finals by 19 pins.

The 13th PBAP Bevida-Storm International Classic drew 58 bowlers, 42 men and 16 women, from 8 countries in the Open Masters division. All players bowled a total of 24 qualifying games on three different oil pattern. The top 24 qualifiers (pictured) advanced to the finals to bowl 8 games from scratch to determine the top six players who bowlerd for the title.
