Heading into the final day of qualifying, the lefty leads the 146-player field with 1431 six-game total and an average of 238.50. Karsten Aust (r.), Germany, moved into second place during Friday's Squad.8 with 1428. Qualifying ends on Saturday with four more squads and the Desperado Squad.

Mathias Sarmadi (r.), France, led Squad 5 with 1371 including a 290 in the last game to move into second place in the overall standings. Verbruggen and Sarmadi pocketed a 150 Euro bonus each.

Seven by men, Kimmo Lehtonen (FIN), Mike Fagan, Norm Duke, Parker Bohn III, Bill O'Neill (all USA), Mathieu Berges (SUI) and Frederik Øhrgaard (DEN), and one by a woman, Evgeniya Smirnova, Russia. Jimmy Ravez paces Squad 3 to move into second place in Luxembourg Open qualifying

Ravez (l.) used high games of 248, 237 and a pair of 227s to become just the second player in the tournament, who has reached the 1300-plateau. He received 150 Euro for winning the squad. Day one leader Uwe Blank (r.), Germany, held on to the lead with 1350.

Luxembourg's Harald Scheuer moves into second place in Ebonite International Luxembourg Open

He received 150 Euro for winning the squad. Scheuer (l.) felled 1243 pins, an average of 207.17, Tuesday evening at X-Treme Bowling & Billard in Foetz, Luxembourg. Day one leader Uwe Blank (r.), Germany, remained in the pole position with 1350 (225.00).

Rob Thurlby beats two Malaysians to win the Brunswick Euro Challenge

Parker Bohn wins 300-Game Pot Play shoot-out

2010EBT05Top4_small.jpgNo. 2 seed Rob Thurlby, England, defeated No. 1 seed Adrian Ang, Malaysia, 253-248, en route to win his first career European Bowling Tour title in the 2010 Brunswick Euro Challenge and the 13.000 Euro top prize. For the first time in the history of the EBT the stepladder finals were broadcasted live on Eurosport 2. In the opening match, No. 3 Zulmazran Zulkifli, Malaysia , topped No. 4 seed Ildemaro Ruiz, 230-202, before he was eliminated by Thurlby in the semifinal, 233-194. Brunswick has announced the tentative TV schedule for Eurosport 2 Northern and Eastern Europe, British Eurosport 2 and Eurosport Asia Pacific.

Home triumph in Tali leaves Lena Sulkanen fuming

The Finn dashed Lena Sulkanen’s (r.) bid for victory on her debut tour appearance right at the death in a tense final full of drama. Down by seven pins Koukonen posted a huge 258 game in the second to claim the title, 464-424.

Nina Flack overtakes lead in 2010 European Bowling Tour women's ranking

Dominic Barrett remains atop the men's ranking after Brunswick Euro Challenge

Flack went on to win the women's ranking in the EBT "Gold" tournament en route to overtake the lead in the 2010 women's ranking with 320 points. Despite missing the first cut in the BEC, Dominic Barrett (r.), England, remained atop the men's leaderboard with 325 points.

Uwe Blank sets the pace in Ebonite International Luxembourg Open

2010EBT06UweBlank_small.jpgOne day after the conclusion of the Brunswick Euro Challenge, the sixth stop of the 2010 European Bowling Tour got underway with the first qualifying squad of the Ebonite International Luxembourg Open. 32 players took to the 20 lanes of X-Treme Bowling & Billard in Foetz, Luxembourg Monday evening. Uwe Blank (pictured), Germany, used high games of 256, 235 and 232 to set the pace with 1350 six-game total and an average of 225.00. Qualifying continues on Tuesday, March 16, with Squad 2 scheduled for 8 p.m. CET.

Since the Ankara Open and the Austria Challenge have been cancelled, the 2010 EBT consists of 2 Platinum tournaments (formerly Premier), 6 Gold (formerly Major), 7 Silver (formerly Challenger) and 4 Satellite tournaments (new). The season kicked off with the Brunswick Ballmaster Open and ends with the Qatar Bowling Open. The total prize fund of the 2010 Tour will exceed 1.1 million Euro. The top 16 men and women in the EBT rankings will qualify for the 4th EBT Masters 2011.

Dane Frederik Øhrgaard (l.) fired games of 245, 255, 269, 276, 238 and 277 to lead the round with 1560 pinfall total and an average of 260. U.S. Open champion Bill O'Neill (r.) rolled the tournament's 8th 300 game. The top 16 will meet the top 16 qualifiers in the single-elimination Round of 32.

The American overtook the lead in the 10th of 23 qualifying squads and never looked back. Pepe led the field of 448 players - 361 men and 97 women - with 1572 six-game total and an average of 262.00. Defending champion Mike Fagan, also USA, was second with 1555. Mikael Kanold, Sweden, took the 52nd and final spot with 1407 (234.50).

Parker Bohn III regains his spot in the top 16 in Brunswick Euro Challenge

Bohn was only 98 pins over a 200 average after four games but closed out his six-game block with 279 and 300 to jump into 10th place in the overall standings with 1477 pinfall total and an average of 246.17. Anthony Pepe, United States, leads the 442-player field with 1572 (262 avg.).
