Korean bowlers win 10 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze medals
In a unique outcome the top 3 women and the top 3 men in the All Events standings at the 5th East Asian Games bowling competition also earned the medals in the Masters ´finals Saturday at Hong Kong Bowling City in Hong Kong, China. All Events champions Gye Min-Young and Hong Hae-Sol (pictured) earned the coveted titles and their fourth gold medal of the Games. The Korean women and men dominated the bowling competition winning 10 gold, 8 silver and 4 bronze medals.
Koreans on target for clean sweep in men's and women's Masters
The Korean bowlers are on target for another clean sweep in the men's and women's Masters of the 5th East Asian Games in Hong Kong, China. Singles champion Hwang Sun-Ok (r.) is on the way to her fourth gold medal as she led the 16-player women's field with 1942 pinfall total including 60 pins bonus. On the men's side, Kim Jea-Hoon (l.) took a 117-pin lead after the
first eight matches averaging 233.38 for 1917 pinfall total including 50 pins bonus.

After winning gold and silver in Trios earlier this day, the Korean women and men claimed another gold medal in the five-player team event in the 5th East Asian Games in Hong Kong, China. In addition, the Korean women led by Gye Min-Young swept all the medals in All Events, while Hong Hae-Sol and Kim Jae-Hoon took gold and silver in the men's division. The top 16 men and the top 16 women in All Events advanced to the Masters finals on
Friday and Saturday.Â
The Korean women won its third gold medal of the 5th East Asian Games in Hong Kong, while the men finally captured the first title in the Trios event Thursday morning at Hong Kong Bowling City. The other Korean trios claimed the silver medals. Both bronze medals went to Japan. The women's title went to Jeon Eun-Hee, Hwang Sun-Ok and Son Yun-Hee (front row, l-r) with 4044 pinfall total while Hong Hae-Sol, Kim Tae-Young and Kim Jae-Hoon (back row, l-r) secured the men's gold with 4139.

The Japanese women posted a 3202 pinfall total (213.47) while the Korean men felled 3470
pins, an average of 231.33.

Team Korea dominated the first block on short oil in both the men's and women's Trios event at the 5th East Asian Games. Gang Hye-Eun, Shin Bo-Hyun and Gye Min-Young (.) set the pace in the women's division with 1967 (218.56). Hong Hae-Sol, Kim Jae-Hoon and Kim Tae-Young (r.) led the fmen's ield with 2021 (224.56).

Hong Kong Bowling City in Hong Kong, China, en route to sweep all medals on the second day of competition. Wolrd champions Jeon Eun-Hee and Son Yun-Hee (2618) and Hwang Sun-Ok and Gang Hye-Eun (2458)had to settle for silver and bronze as Shin Bo-Hyun and Gye Min-Young (r-l) cruised to victory with 2645 six-game total and an average of 220.42.
For the second consecutive day, Japanese bowlers finished strong to claim the gold medal in the 5th East Asian Games bowling competition currently underway at Hong Kong Bowling City in Hong Kong, China. Tomoyuki Sasaki and Nobuhito Fujii (r-l) finished their six-game series with the highest game of the event, 502, en route to jump from 7th to first place to earn the gold medal in Men's Doubles with 2596. Silver and bronze went to Chinese Taipei's. Cheng Hsing-Chao/Yang Nien-Hua and Fang Chih-Nan/Cheng Chao-Yu.

 Toshihiko Takahashi from Japan rolled the first 300 game in the bowling competition of the 5th East Asian Games in Hong Kong, China, en route to claim the gold medal in the Men's Singles competition Monday afternoon at Hong Kong Bowling City. Hong Kong's Wu Siu Hong, 7th after five games, finished with a huge 269 to help grab the silver medal, while Koreans Choi Ki-Bong and Kim Jae-Hoon, who led the field of 43 players from eight countries after five games, slipped to third and fourth place.Â

The Korean women underlined their status as tournament favorites when Hwang Sun-Ok (r.) and Shin Bo-Hyun earned the gold and silver medal. Japan's Misaki Mukotani beat out team mate Haruka Matsuda for the bronze medal by five pins.

Lin Yi Chien, Chinese Taipei, defeated Wang Ying Jun, China, 389-346, to win the Men's Masters title in the 21st East Asian Tenpin Bowling Championship at Mei Foo Super Fun Bowl in Hong Kong, China. On the women's side, Kim Yang-Hee topped Ka Yun-Mi, both of Korea, 385-363, in the title match.
