Third seeded Tan started the three-player stepladder finals with a
stunningly ruthless 266-191 victory over Hwang's compatriot, defending champion Choi Jin-A. 
Choi Bok-Eum (l.), Korea won his third gold medal in the 16th Asian Games when he cruised to the title in the Men's Masters competition Wednesday afternoon at Tianhe Bowling Hall in Guangzhou, China. In the title match the No. 1 seed flew past his opponent Mohammed Al-Regebah (r.), Kuwait, 462-327, to wrap up the title. The Kuwaiti, seeded third, ousted No. 2 seed Du Jianchao, China, in the opening one-game match, 215-208.
Three-time Guangzhou Asian Games gold medalist Hwang Sun-Ok (l.) and defending champion Choi Jin-A (r.), both of Korea, dominated the Women's Masters competition en route to earn the No. 1 and No. 2 seed for the stepladder finals on Wednesday afternoon at Tianhe Bowling Hall in Guangzhou, China. Singapore's Cherie Tan defeated Sharon Koh in the position round to oust the Malaysian by two pins to grab the third and last spot for the stepladder. 
Choi Bok-Eum_small (pictured), Korea rolled the first-ever 300 game by a man in Asian Games history and averaged 238.75 during the second block of the Men's Masters match play on short oil en route to earn the No. 1 seed for the stepladder finals later this afternoon at Tianhe Bowling Hall. In the opening match of the three-player stepladder finals second-placed Du Jianchao, China and third placed Mohammed Al-Regebah, Kuwait will square off for the right to bowl Bok-Eum for the gold medal. 
Yannaphon Larp-apharat (pictured) of Thailand got off to a great start into the Men's Masters competition at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China as he took a convincing lead after the first block of eight games round robin on long oil Tuesday morning. Yannaphon had eight games between 203 and 266 winning seven of his eight matches to lead the field of 16 players with 1966 pinfall total including 70 pins bonus. The top three players after the second block on short oil on Wednesday will advance to the stepladder finals. 
The Korean women filled their trophy case with another team title Monday capturing the gold medal in the five-player Team event at the 16th Asian Games in record-setting style. Choi Jin-A, Gang Hye-Eun, Hong Su-Yeon, Son Yun-Hee, Hwang Sun-Ok and Jeon Eun-Hee fired games of 1028, 1244 and 1229 for 3601 and 6711, an average of 223.70, to establish Asian Games records for three and six games. Indonesia and Malaysia maintained their positions to finish second and third with 6340 and 6295.
Alex Liew (pictured), Malaysia, posted a 1425 series in the Team event en route to claim the gold medal in All Events (combined results of Singles, Doubles, Trios and Team) at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China with 5448 pinfall total and an average of 227 for 24 games. Choi Young-Kyu and Choi Bok-Eum, both Korea, took silver and bronze with 5441 and 5431, respectively. The top 16 of 101 players but maximum two players per country advanced to Masters finals which will conclude the bowling competition on Tuesday and Wednesday.
The Malaysian men had games of 1174, 1045 and 1136 to overtake the lead in the Asian Games five-player team event after the first block on short oil with 3355 pinfall total and an average of 223.67 Sunday morning at Tianhe Bowling Hall in Guangzhou, China. Aaron Kong (pictured) led the team with an 801 effort including games of 268, 235 and 298. Trailing Malaysia by 99 pins to sit in second place was Qatar with 3256 followed by Japan in third place with 3239. The men will return on Mnday for the second block on long oil. 
Singapore's Cherie Tan (l., Geraldine Ng (r.) and Shayna Ng posted the highest three-game block on short oil to overtake long-oil leader Korea en route to claim the gold medal in Women's Trios at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China. The Singaporeans totaled 3917 pins, an average of 217.61 for six games. Korea secured the silver
medal with 3849 and was followed by the host country China, which earned the bronze medal with 384. 
Choi Young-Kyu (left), Jang Dong-Chul (right) and Choi Bok-Eum of Korea, who led the field of 33 trios after the first block of three games on long oil, posted the highest series on short oil to cruise to the gold medal with 4061 pinfall total and an average of 225.61. The threesome, finish ed 109 pins ahead of their team mates, who claimed the silver medal with 3952. Qatar took the bronze medal with 3908. 
The Korean men target their first medals at the 16th Asian Games in Guangzhou, China as they led the field of 33 Trios after the first three-game block on long oil conditioning Friday morning. Jang Dong-Chul (l.) and Choi Bok-Eum (r.) teamed with Choi Young-Kyu to set the pace with 2053 pinfall total (228.11 ave.). The other Korean Trio was one pin ahead of third-placed Qatar with 1984. The 33 trios will return on Saturday for the second block on short oil. 
Choi Jin-A and Gang Hye-Eun (pictured l-r) earned the second gold medal for the Korean women bowlers at the 16th Asian Games as the duo knocked down record 2687 pins to win the Doubles competition Thursday. Their team mates Hong Su-Yeon/Son Yun-Hee and Hwang Sun-Ok/Jeon Eun-Hee finished second and third. owever, as Asian Games Rules do not permit a medal sweep fourth-placed Zhang Yuhong and Yang Suiling of China received bronze. 
The bowling competition of the 16th Asian Games started on Monday at Tianhe Bowling Hall in Guangzhou, China with the Men's Singles event on short oil. Biboy Rivera (r.), Philippines, rolled games of 256, 196, 233, 225, 239 and 265 to claim the gold medal with 1414 and an average of 235.67. Mohammed Al-Regebah, Kuwait, took the silver medal with 1404 while Rivera's compatriot Frederick Ong secured the bronze with 1390.
